Perfume

Someone posted about finding a new perfume on mission101_2009 and it just started me thinking about perfumes. I think I've had three stand-out scents in my life: Tommy Girl, Michael by Michael Kors, and Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel.

Tommy Girl is the least impressive. It was a nice little scent that either I picked up (or someone gave me, I can't remember) and I used it as a warm weather scent since my favorite perfume (Michael) was way too heavy for summer. What I love about it is that when I smell it, I always think of summer.

Michael is a pretty heavy perfume (at least in my opinion) that's probably more appropriate for someone older (for instance, my current age). I fell in love with it in my early twenties, though (possibly even late teens). It's deliciously spicy and I love putting on a coat I've worn while wearing it.

I also love Coco Mademoiselle. The top notes of it are Orange, Bergamot, and Grapefruit. I don't usually care for fruit fragrances and in fact, this one didn't impress me right out of the bottle. I tried it when I was shopping and a little while after I sprayed it, I was in Borders looking at books and thought "What's that amazing smell?" I did a quick sniff and it was me! Needless to say, I went back and bought a bottle and wore it for a long time. I don't know whether I liked it because of the other notes ( or because it was just a scent that reacted well to me. Anyway, I got a lot of compliments and "What are you wearing?" when I wore it.

Honorable mentions go to Burberry, Island by Michael Kors, and Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan. (My mom stole the last two.)

Given how passionate I was about perfume for a while, I'm surprised I'm so ambivalent now. I have a bottle of Coach and a bottle of one of the Harajuku Lovers perfumes (they're cute!) and I've been trying to remember to spritz some on every morning. I think one of my projects this summer is going to be finding another perfume to absolutely fall in love with. I think various things (including law school) have made me very ambivalent about the girly things I used to love so much.

Anyone else have any perfume stories or favorites?

Also, Basenotes is a great perfume review site. It lists all the notes in a perfume and lets you search other perfumes that have the notes. I'd love to figure out exactly what attracts me to the scents I like.

I love perfume, but since I'm also into aromatherapy I'm more interested in the creation of my own scents.

I still need to get perfumes off of BPAL (Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab) - they don't do sprays, they do perfume oils, which react a bit differently.

Oh, I remember now - I loved Samsara. I don't think I have the bottle now, but I remember I got it in winter (a couple of years ago) and loved the spicy/warm notes.

I barely wear perfumes and things, but uhm, I usually pick up whatever mom buys around the house since she doesn't wear old person perfume or anything. And last night, she runs into the living room, grabs my arm, and sprays THREE FREAKING squirts of this new perfume she got on my wrist and missed one and hit my fingers. LOL. I'm like WHAT IS THIS!?? But all I could read was "PINK" on the bottle.

I'm more of a fan of oils(in the shower), body sprays(I love Bath and Body Works when I have money which is rare), and uhm, well, lotions. There's this one called Amazing Grace from QVC that apparently goes with my natural "spicy" scent well according to people.:P

This is going to sound lecherous. BUT IT'S NOT!

Though I myself rarely wear perfume, I LOVE WHEN OTHER GIRLS DO. I even like smelling guy's cologne. I do not know why. Hahahaha! But guys in college usually just smell like Axe and ass. D:

How in the heck is something deliciously spicy? Heheheh. *lech*

I think you're still pretty girly. *shrugs* It's not a bad thing, either way!
