Why Do I Bother?
[Misc] Flowers
I've mentioned earlier that I had a problem with Amazon. In fact, I didn't shop with them for about a year due to bad customer service. But I broke down to get a new phone and, even worse, I ended up buying Prime again.

Everything was going fine until this week. I ordered a new camera and when I tried to put the memory card in, I got an ERR 02 message, meaning it wasn't reading the memory card. A little research means there's probably a problem with the camera and I'm probably going to need to send it back. PROBABLY. It could just be a problem with the memory card. So I check Amazon's policy on returns/exchanges and there exchange policy was unclear, specifically whether I'd pay the price I paid for the first item or the current price of the item at the time my refund processed (up to 4 weeks).

So, I did what any reasonable person would do. I send an email asking for clarification. I thought it was a pretty clear one, too. I clearly explained that there might be a problem, but before returning it, I wanted to try a new memory card and contact the camera's tech support. I also asked about the exchange policy, including what price I would pay for the camera.

I got my response today:

I'm so sorry about the problem you had with your “Canon Rebel XS 10.1MP Digital
SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black).” I understand that
you'd like to return the item to us for a full refund.

I requested a call tag so that UPS can pick up the item you're returning to us.

A UPS driver will arrive at your address within the next 2-5 business days and
will make up to three consecutive attempts for the pick-up. If you can't be home
when the pickup occurs, please leave the package in a secure location where the
UPS driver will have access to it.

Describe the defect, damage, or error on the return slip, or on a separate piece
of paper if you no longer have the slip, and return the item in its original
packaging if possible.

UPS typically will make the first pickup attempt the first business day after a
request is made, but it can take up to 3 business days for them to receive the
pickup request. They'll make three attempts to pick up your return if you aren't
available when they arrive.

Because we requested the pickup for you, the UPS carrier will bring a
pre-addressed, authorized return label when they arrive for the pickup.

You can contact UPS to see if they can give you any more specific information
about the scheduling of the pickup--their phone number is 1-800-PICK-UPS
(1-800-742-5877). Please reference this tracking number if you call them.

We'll send you an e-mail when your full refund is processed. This usually
happens within 4 weeks of shipping your return, though in many cases you'll
receive a refund more quickly.

They didn't even READ my message.

Way to go, Amazon. Keep that excellent customer service coming.
