Writer's Block: I can walk under ladders
[Misc] Flowers
Do you believe in luck? Do you think some people are luckier than others? Do actions cause reactions or are there intervening forces beyond our control that govern our destinies?

I don't think that anyone is more or less lucky than the next person, but I think it probably looks that way from the outside. I think "luck" is a combination of two things. First, it's about keeping your eyes open and being ready to grab the opportunities you want. Or, when things go badly, to be ready to mitigate the damages. Second, it's about keeping a positive outlook. One person's bad luck might be another person's good luck.

For example, for a lot of people, when something bad happens, that's bad luck. Period. Something bad happened, poor me, why do bad things always happen to me? But I think you need to look at the way it happened. Sometimes, when something bad happens, it happens in such a way that the damage is minimal and it's easy to fix. A couple of months ago, my car hit an icy patch and went off the road. Bad luck, right? But fortunately, the lane I slid across was clear, my car came to a stop on a grassy patch without damaging my car or hurting my dog or me, and I was able, after taking a deep breath, to get my car back on the road and turn around and go home without incident. I think I was pretty lucky.

I think luck exists somewhat... I mean, there's analyzing the goods and bads of a situation, then there's luck.

And I mean luck as in roulette or a slot machine. Or say, a raffle. Some people have it!

Can't read my, can't read my, oh no you can't read my writer's block-
